Overview

The SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certifications are competency-based credentials that signify mastery of the HR competencies and knowledge that are defined in the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge™ (SHRM BASK™).

The SHRM BASK™ is the basis for the SHRM credentials and:

  • Draws heavily on the SHRM Competency Model.
  • Describes the Behavioral Competencies and HR Functional Areas needed for effective job performance.
  • Explains what HR professionals need to know and how they apply this expertise to perform effectively at the workplace.

Course Outline

The course content is based on the SHRM BASK which is structured into Behavioral Competencies and Technical Expertise Competency:

  1. HR Behavioral Competency (3 Clusters with 9 Behavioral Competencies)
  • Leadership Cluster – Leadership and Navigation, Ethical Practice, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
  • Interpersonal Cluster – Relationship Management, Communication, Global Mindset
  • Business Cluster – Business Acumen, Consultation, Analytical Aptitude
  1. HR Technical Expertise Competency (3 Domains with 15 Functional Areas)
  • People Knowledge Domain – HR Strategic Planning, Talent Acquisition, Employee Engagement & Retention, Learning & Development, Total Rewards
  • Organization Knowledge Domain – Structure of the HR Function, Organizational Effectiveness & Development, Workforce Management, Employee & Labor Relations, Technology Management
  • Workplace Knowledge Domain – HR in the Global Context, Diversity & Inclusion, Risk Management, Corporate Social Responsibility

Eligibility

This program is ideal for those who want to commit to a career in Human Resources hence need a certification that measures and showcases their ability. Specific jobs include:

  • HR Director, HR Manager, HR Generalist, HR Analyst, Compensation Analyst, Labor Relations Manager, Training Coordinator, HR Administrator, and other HR Professionals

Applicants must meet specific educational and work experience criteria outlined below: 

SHRM-CP

Work in HR is operational in nature (i.e., implements policy, serves as HR day-to-day point person, etc.) Your duties tend to be specialized versus general.

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR + 1 year of work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in non-HR + 2 years of work experience
  • Master’s degree in HR + currently in the role 
  • Master’s degree in non-HR + 1 year of work experience

SHRM-SCP

Work in HR is strategic in nature (i.e., develop HR policies, execute all integrated HR operations, direct the entire HR enterprise, or lead the alignment of HR strategies to organizational goals).

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR + 4 years of work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in non-HR + 5 years of work experience
  • Master’s degree in HR + 3 years of work experience
  • Master’s degree in non-HR + 4 years of work experience

Delivery Options

The program is delivered via instructed-led tuition in-person or virtually.

  • Option 1Virtual via Zoom or Microsoft Teams
  • Option 2 – In-person at Client’s facilities or any other location that may be agreed to.

Prep Class Package

The prep class package include

  • Tuition Fees (60 hours of instructor-led sessions)
  • SHRM Exam Fees
  •  SHRM Learning System (Online access to test prep materials for 1 year)
  • SHRM Membership Fees (1 year membership subscription)

Exam Schedule

There are two testing windows in a year during which the exams are administered.
